About Me:
As a highly experienced, student – centered educator and central office leader for 15 years, I have had the privilege to serve children, communities, and districts across Florida. I started my career as a middle grade instructor in Duval County Public School. Throughout my tenure as an instructional leader, I have improved student outcomes through curriculum alignment, assessment, and differentiated instruction with socio – economic diverse schools by 45%. A few of my accomplishments are enhancing student academics through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; increasing the passage rate on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) 13%, from 30% to 43%, and supporting low performing schools by improving their school grade.
Currently, I am Senior Coordinator of Math Instruction for turnaround schools in Polk County Public Schools. I have spearheaded the educational development at several elementary and secondary schools increasing the school letter grade from D to C or F to D. Throughout the process of transiting to Benchmark of Excellent Student Thinking (BEST), I have been instrumental in aligning materials, improving instructional practices, and designing professional development, district and state wide. Transformed turnaround schools through innovative practices that enhanced and raised student performance level on average of 15 % for 10 or more schools. Analyzed district and state summative assessments to provide district leadership and principals compiled data regarding academic achievement and learning gaps.
Throughout my career, I have focused on ensuring that all students receive the resources and support needed to succeed in math, regardless of their background or academic ability. Those who know me best would describe me as a serious, collaborative, passionate educator. I am committed to making transparent, data – driven decisions that are in the best interests of students, teachers, and leaders. I look forward to helping your child achieve success in math.
